An Inclusive Pageant Sisterhood

At the heart of our pageant system is a simple belief: every woman has a story worth celebrating. Through Mrs. America, Mrs. American, and Miss for America Strong, women from different walks of life are given a platform to celebrate their accomplishments, embrace their individuality, serve their communities, and build lasting connections through sisterhood.

Mrs. America celebrates married women, with state titleholders advancing to the national Mrs. America competition and the opportunity to continue to the international stage at Mrs. World.

Alongside Mrs. America is Mrs. American, an additional title that expands the opportunity for women within the Mrs. America system. Awarded to the contestant with the next-highest overall score at the state level, often the first runner-up, Mrs. American provides another pathway to the national stage. The emphasis on “can” in American reflects the spirit of possibility behind the title and gives another deserving woman the opportunity to represent her state and advance within the national pageant system.

Completing our pageant family is Miss for America Strong, an inclusive division celebrating women who are not married and recognizing the many different ways women contribute to the fabric of America. The vision championed by the late national director David Marmel recognized that our families and communities are strengthened by women from all walks of life—including grandmothers, single mothers, widows, professionals, community leaders, and women forging paths uniquely their own.

Together, Mrs. Alaska America, Mrs. Alaska American, and Miss Alaska for America Strong embody the spirit of “We Are Family.” While each woman brings her own journey, accomplishments, and aspirations to the stage, they are united by sisterhood, service, strength, and a shared commitment to making a difference in their families and communities.
